Drone shot down: Turkish warplanes have shot down a drone belonging to an unidentified nation in Turkey’s airspace after issuing three warnings to it, the country’s military said. Reuters, quoting an unidentified U.S. military official, reported the drone was Russian, but Russian officials have denied the aircraft is theirs.
FIFA scandal: Der Spiegel is reporting that Germany’s successful bid in 2006 to host the world cup was secured with bribes. A slush fund of about $6 million was contributed in a private capacity by Robert Louis-Dreyfus, who then headed the sports giant Adidas, the publication reported.
