Israel boosts security: Israel has deployed soldiers across the country amid an increase in attacks by Palestinians. Today, police said they foiled a knife attack on security forces in Jerusalem. The assailant was killed, they said.

More support for the nuclear deal: Iran’s powerful Guardian Council has approved the nuclear deal the Islamic republic struck with the U.S. and five other world powers. The approval comes a day after Iran’s parliament gave its assent to the agreement.

More revelations from Volkswagen: The Associated Press is reporting that the automaker “installed additional suspect software in its 2016 diesel models that would potentially help their exhaust systems run cleaner during government tests.” This software is not the same as the “defeat devices,” over which Volkswagen withdrew its applications for certification of its 2016 diesel models.
