Oslo Accords no more? Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas says Israel has violated the Oslo Accords and the agreements that followed it, and “we cannot be the only party” that remains faithful to the treaty that created the Palestinian Authority. The comments were made at the U.N. General Assembly.

Syria update: Russia says its warplanes struck ISIS targets in Syria after lawmakers approved overseas military operations. But the U.S. and others say the Russian planes also hit Western-backed groups fighting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, an ally of Russia.  

Shutdown update: The Senate passed a spending bill that would keep the government running until December 11. The measure faces a tougher time in the House, but will likely pass today with support from Democrats.

Hurricane Joaquin: The storm is headed to the Bahamas, but it’s what it does next that has implications for communities along the U.S. East Coast. Joaquin has already brought much rain to the U.S., and the forecast for the next few days is likely more rain. Update: More here
