It's Official
Kevin McCarthy wants John Boehner’s old job:
After hearing from my colleagues, I have decided to run for Speaker of the House. Let’s work together to make a difference for our country.
— Kevin McCarthy (@GOPLeader) September 28, 2015
This isn’t a surprise. McCarthy, a four-term California Republican, has long been considered the favorite to succeed Boehner, who announced Friday that he would step down from the speakership and retire from Congress at the end of October. McCarthy has served as majority leader, the No. 2 spot in the House, since last summer.
Boehner said last week he believes McCarthy “would make an excellent speaker.” Update: More from Priscilla. Some instant reactions from Twitter:
First Ryan, Jordan declined. Then Jeb H. Price running for MLdr instead. Labrador mum. Only longshot Webster challenging McCarthy for spkr.

House relationship-driven, not pure ideological or political reflection of party's drift. Thus, McCarthy, Dale Carnegie R, easily rising.
