April’s jobs report: Bourree calls the first disappointing report of he year “meh.” The Labor Department reported the U.S. economy added 160,000 jobs and that unemployment held steady at 5 percent. The jobs number missed expectations.

On the verge of a historic win: Sadiq Khan, the Labour Party candidate for London’s mayor, is ahead of Zac Goldsmith, his Conservative rival. Khan would be London’s first Muslim mayor and would return the mayoralty to his party.

Turkey press crackdown: Can Dündar, the Turkish journalist being tried on charges of revealing state secrets, has survived an assassination attempt outside the courthouse in Istanbul. We’re previously written about Dundar, and the Turkish media, here.
