A suicide bombing in Kabul: At least seven people are dead and more than 300 wounded in the attack claimed by the Taliban. News reports say a suicide car bomb allowed Taliban gunmen to enter the area in the center of the Afghan capital. A battle with Afghan force is ongoing.

Ecuador quake toll rises: It’s now at 413, the government says. The 7.8-magnitude quake struck the country’s Pacific coast on Saturday.
