Presidential primaries in five states: Voters in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island will vote today, and Donald Trump, the Republican front-runner, and Hillary Clinton, who’s leading the Democratic field, are comfortably ahead in all those states. Meanwhile, an alliance between Ted Cruz and John Kasich, Trump’s GOP rivals, appears to be eroding.

Australia’s detention camp ruled illegal: The Supreme Court in Papua New Guinea said the camp on Manus, in Papua New Guinea, violated the country’s right to personal liberty. Australia holds about 850 asylum-seekers in the camp as part of a deal with the government of Papua New Guinea.

30th anniversary of Chernobyl disaster: Sirens were sounded in Ukraine at the same time as the first explosion at the reactor. The disaster remains the worst nuclear accident in history.
