A Golden State welcome: Hundreds of protesters demonstrated outside the California Republican Convention ahead of a speech by GOP front-runner Donald Trump. Trump later mocked the demonstrators, joking that entering the stadium was as easy as “crossing the border.”

Kenya building collapse: At least three people died in Nairobi Friday night after a six-story residential structure collapsed after heavy rains. First responders were able to pull some living survivors from the rubble as rescue efforts continue.

Charleston guilty plea: Joseph Meek pleaded guilty in federal court Friday to lying about his knowledge of the massacre at a historic black church in Charleston last year. Meek, a friend of gunman Dylann Roof, faces a maximum of eight years in prison.
