The risk of nuclear terrorism: President Obama says it’s real. “There is no doubt that if these madmen ever got their hands on a nuclear bomb or nuclear material, they would certainly use it to kill as many people as possible,” he said in Washington at a summit on global nuclear security, which is being attended by more than 50 world leaders. He said that though countries had made it harder for terrorists to obtain nuclear material, the threat “continues to evolve.”

Chicago teachers strike: Public school teachers spent the morning on the picket line protesting budget cuts and state funding for education. Classes were canceled for some 30,000 students.
