Monday morning quarterbacking: The Broncos stunned the Panthers 24-10, giving Peyton Manning his second ring at last night’s Super Bowl 50. As we noted last night, “[T]he game featured none of the displays of virtuosity fans of Manning or [Cam] Newton might have hoped for. It was a plodding, mistake-riddled affair, all stuffed runs and stalled drives.”

Storm Imogen batters southern Britain: Southern England and southern Wales are expected to be lashed by heavy rains and winds as high as 96 mph.

The Year of the Monkey begins: The Lunar New Year, which falls today, marks the start of the Year of the Monkey. The AP adds that those born in the Year of the Monkey are believed, like a monkey, to be playful, mischievous and clever. But the year is also predicted to have, the AP reports, “market ups and downs, fires and viruses.”
