Apple to fight court order on San Bernardino attacker’s phone: CEO Tim Cook, in a letter, called the demand for the company to provide “reasonable technical assistance” to unlock Syed Rizwan Farook’s iPhone 5c “chilling.” The FBI maintains it cannot get into the phone. Update: More here

China downplays missile report: Its foreign minister called reports of the surface-to-air missiles on the disputed Paracels “an attempt by certain Western media to create news stories.” Fox News had reported on Sunday that China had moved the missiles to the islands. That deployment has been confirmed by U.S. officials.

A winner at the Westminster Dog Show: CJ, the German Shorthaired Pointer, beat out Rumor, the German shepherd who was the crowd favorite.

He’s the first winner from the Sporting Group since 2009.
