RIP, David Bowie: The legendary rock star died early this morning after an 18-month battle with cancer. He was 69. The news was confirmed by his son Duncan Jones, as well as by Bowie’s official website. Bowie’s death came just two days after the release of his newest album, Blackstar. I’ll leave you with what’s perhaps my favorite Bowie song:

A pivotal case for unions at the Supreme Court: The justices will weigh whether government workers who choose not to join a union must still pay a fee that helps pay for collective bargaining. You can read my colleague Alana Semuels’ coverage of Friedrichs v. California State Association here.

The winners at the Golden Globes: The Revenant was the big winner last night, picking up the award for best actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and best direction (Alejandro G. Iñárritu). You can read our coverage here.
