Trump’s call: The Republican presidential candidate has called for an end to all Muslim immigration into the United States. As Russell reported: “Trump’s constitutionally questionable call to place an explicit religious test on immigration and travel goes far beyond his previous statements.”

Bail for Pistorius: The Olympian was granted bail while he awaits sentencing on his murder conviction. He will continue to remain under house arrest until next April. Pistorius was convicted of manslaughter for killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, in 2013. But last week, judges overturned that verdict and convicted him of murder in the case. He faces up to 15 years in prison. Update: More here

Syria rebels to meet: Syrian rebels are expected to meet today in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, to work on a common platform through which to negotiate with the government. The BBC adds that while the talks include the influential Jaish al-Islam, powerful Kurdish groups have not been invited. The Islamic State and the Nusra Front, which is linked to al-Qaida, are also not attending, the BBC reports.
