U.S., U.K. warn of a possible threat in Beijing: Both embassies warned of threats in the Sanlitun area on or around Christmas Day, and urged their citizens to “exercise heightened vigilance.” Sanlitun is one of the Chinese capital’s main shopping and dining districts. Update: More here

A fire at a Saudi hospital kills at least 25: More than 100 others were injured in the blaze overnight in Jazan at the intensive care and maternity departments of the Jazan General Hospital. It’s unclear what caused the blaze at the hospital that’s near the border with Yemen.

Storms kills 6 across the South: Three people were killed in Mississippi, two in Tennessee, and one in Arkansas on Wednesday. The AP reports severe storms were also predicted for parts of Kentucky, Alabama, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. Update: More here
