Restaurant closures: Chipotle has closed 43 restaurants in Washington state and Oregon in connection with an E.coli outbreak in the two states. The Washington State Department of Health said the restaurants under investigation are linked to 19 cases of E. coli illnesses. Oregon’s Health Authority reported three cases in the state. There have been no deaths. Update: More here
Arrests at the Vatican: The Holy See has announced the arrests of two members of a reform commission—a priest and a lay woman—in connection with the leaking of confidential documents to the media. Monsignor Lucio Angel Vallejo Balda, who is a high-ranking official at the Vatican’s Prefecture for Economic Affairs, and Francesca Chaouqui, a public relations expert, were arrested over the weekend.
