Two days after the American flags atop the Brooklyn Bridge were mysteriously replaced by white banners, police are searching for a group of five young folks seen on security cameras just 20 minutes before the lights went out.
Sources told the Daily News that a skateboarder and four friends are wanted for questioning in the flag swap. A blurry video revealed the quintet crossing the bridge before the flags were stolen around 3:30am. The footage was not high enough quality for facial recognition software, but they are reportedly in their late teens or early 20s.
“We have no good images of these guys on cameras," a police source told the New York Post. The NYPD threw dozens of New York's finest on the case, having been humiliated by the security breach. As of press time, they know the group by their nicknames.
