TMZ has found recorded footage of Vanessa Stiviano, who is part African-American, saying racist remarks about African Americans in 2011. Stiviano's illegal recordings of Donald Sterling's racist remarks set off the massive chain reaction that led to the recent sale of the Los Angeles Clippers for $2 billion, and his permanent ban from the NBA.
When Sterling's remarks were recorded, he was suffering from Alzheimer's (a disease which caused him to be ruled mentally incompetent) and they were also made without his consent. (California is a two-party consent state, making it illegal to have recorded the conversations without his permission.) Stiviano's recording was made with her consent as part of a 2011 reality show pilot about "gold diggers." Considering she has reportedly been driving luxury cars and living in a million-dollar apartment that Sterling paid for — and is dealing with a lawsuit from Shelly Sterling because of it — it looks like her lifestyle took off even if her reality show didn't.
Some of Stiviano's more cringe worthy comments from the reality show tape:
- "I don't understand black people. You give them a little bit of money, they don't know what to do with it."
- "[Black people] just act crazy ... they're like, 'Yo, I wanna put extra rims on top of my rims. And my rims are gonna turn around. I'm gonna call them spinners.'"
