The Vice President of the United States is now on Instagram. Or his office is, at least, and the very first picture of ol' Joe is exactly what you might expect.

Of course the first photo on Biden's Instagram account is of his Aviator sunglasses. It's basically a Bidenism in picture form. After all, the Veep's penchant for the iconic shades is well documented:

He even had them on at Ariel Sharon's memorial:

As of this this posting, the Aviators pic is the only upload on Biden's account, but he's hopefully just getting started. Who knows, maybe only photos of sunglasses will be uploaded. Still, it's about time Biden signed up for the social media app, even if most of the time it'll probably be one of his aides doing the actually 'gramming.

But while we're on the subject: How does Biden's first gram stack up against some of his political contemporaries?

Here's the first from "Barack Obama," which is actually run by the unaffiliated Organizing For Action (just like the Obama Twitter account):

And here's the first from George W. Bush – a classic Instagram of Bush posing for a different picture:

Well, Biden's is definitely the coolest first Instagram so far. Here's hoping we get a motorcycle pic next.
