We're beginning to get a clearer picture of who was lost on Friday night in Aurora, Colorado, and the Denver Post has released the most comprehensive biography of the victims we've seen yet.
Veronica Moser, a six-year-old girl, was also killed on Friday. The Post reports she bragging about learning to swim four days before the shooting. Her mother, Ashley Moser, was recently accepted to medical school. She remains in critical condition, and doesn't know her daughter is dead yeat because she's been drifting in and out of consciousness.
We know the most about Jessica Ghawi, or Jessica Redmond as she was professionally known, by virtue of who we follow on Twitter. She was an aspiring sportscaster, but when she died she was helping out with a special project. Ghawi was an intern for You Can Play, an organization fighting to end homophobia in locker rooms. You can read more about the project here. It's an amazing cause, and by all accounts Jessica was an amazing person.
Alex Teves just earned a master's degree in psychology from the University of Denver. His father confirmed his death to ABC News. Teves's father told them he was shot and killed while protecting his girlfriend, who got away unharmed.
Alex Sullivan, 27, went to see The Dark Knight Rises for his birthday. As you can see in this Instagram picture, friends of his brought birthday balloons to the memorial for the victims.
Matt McQuinn also died trying to save his girlfriend. McQuinn and his girlfriend's brother both made attempts to shield her from gunfire. McQuinn's girlfriend was shot in the knee. Her brother got away safely.
Micayla Medek, 23, was expected to graduate from community college in 2015.
John Larimer was a 27-year-old member of the U.S. Navy.
AJ Boik was an 18-year-old recent high school graduate.
Rebecca Wingo was a 32-year-old working toward an arts degree at a local community college. Her father confirmed her death in a heartbreaking note on Facebook.
Jon Blunk was a 26-year-old who also died protecting his girlfriend from gunfire.
Jesse Childress was one of two victims stationed at the Buckley Airforce Base in Aurora. He was a 29-year-old cyber systems operator.
Gordon Cowden was the oldest victim. He was 51-years-old. Not much else is known about him. His family declined to speak to press.
