Our probing look at the inner workings of the Park Slope Food Coop left commenter k___bee with such an icky taste in her mouth that she even pondered jumping ship for a chain store. She had this to say about the Park Slope organization:
As someone who used to help run a neighborhood co-op, this just makes me thank my lucky stars that we had no celebrities and no publicity. And that it was small enough that we never required anyone to work shifts. Honestly, if the alternative to regular supermarkets involves THAT much drama and politicking, I'd prefer to go to the damn Safeway.
We're sure plenty of co-opers have similar complaints. But man, once you get hooked on kombucha and nutritional yeast, Safeway just doesn't cut it anymore.
