After news broke that Davy Jones had died of a heart attack at a hospital in Florida on Friday, the Internet lit up with sad words and thoughtful remembrances of the Monkees singer. Jones was 66.
The still-touring musician, actor and Monkees veteran will be remembered for his vibrant personality on camera, on stage and in real life. "I will miss him, but I won't abandon him to mortality," Jones' bandmate Michael Nesmith wrote on his late friend's Facebook page. "I will think of him as existing within the animating life that insures existence." And in Jones' case, there are enough footage his performances and acting to keep him in fans' memories for generations to come.
