I just got the terrible news that the great historian Manning Marable has passed. I'll say more later. What I remember is that Marable's How Capitalism Undeveloped Black America was essential reading for all of us Howard University radicals who used to gather under the flag-pole. I should add that we have a review of his new biography of Malcolm X coming out in our next issue.
