The Internet erupted when Google honored Veterans' Day with a rather banal tweaking of its logo to include a waving American flag and a shining sun. But many were furious over the way the flag covered part of the "e"--making it look sort of like a crescent moon. It was a symbol of Islam, some said, and thus "distasteful" or even "hateful."
