Lunchtime Vid: Bill Maher Gets Slammed for Racist Obama Joke
A "real black president" would apparently deal with BP differently
In a particularly poor choice of joke, Bill Maher said that in the president's dealings with BP, he wished Obama would act more like a "real black president. I want him in a meeting with the BP CEOs where he lifts up his shirt and you can see the gun in his pants."
Mediaite's Frances Martel was one of many who, in response, pointed out the hypocrisy of Maher's vehemently self-proclaimed anti-racist stance. She writes, "This is someone whose political identity is supposedly deeply rooted in a hatred of racism, someone who makes his paycheck self-righteously brandishing his tolerance, who just admitted on television that you can't be a 'real' black person without behaving like Tupac Shakur."
