A Case for Toscanini

Arturo Toscanini (1867-1957). Beyond our poor power to add or to detract, his achievements endure. Now his recorded legacy on the RCA Victor Gold Seal label—fiery, poetic, broad, deep, and precise—has been reissued on compact disc in its entirety: 82 discs in 71 volumes spanning 34 years. The alphabetical listing of composers runs from Bach to Wolf-Ferrari by way, most notably, of Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Verdi, and Wagner. Each volume is available separately, but the 5,000 customers who order the limitededition complete set get a bonus: a trim hardwood display case, custom-made, its glass door embossed with the maestro’s signature in gold.
