The Polar Voyagers

by Frank Rasky. McGraw-Hill, $17.95. The first of two volumes devoted to short accounts of explorers of the far North, this book runs from the Vikings to eighteenth-century fur traders. Mr. Rasky is on the staff of the Toronto Star, in the entertainment section, and entertainment for readers unacquainted with the North and its history is his purpose in this amiable, undemanding work. Mr. Rasky, however, has unquestionably done a great deal of work which he is too polite to mention. Illustrations, inadequate map, bibliography, notes, index.
