Dilemmas of Masculinity

by Mirra Komarovsky. Norton, $9.95. Working with a group of male seniors at an Ivy League university. Professor Komarovsky examined the emotional strains to which men are subject in a society where the traditional view of women’s position is under revision. She reports her findings with a great deal of jargon and a great many tables of statistics. She also protests as unwarranted the “impression that women constitute the major source of men’s woes,” which is fair enough; the poor fellows in this sample seem to be bugged by practically everything.
