An Exaltation of Larks Or, the Venereal Game

by James Lipton. Grossman, $4,95. The terms — a pride of lions — that are well known, plus some forgotten splendors like “a clowder of cats” and “a superfluity of nuns,” plus some modern contrivances by Mr. Lipton and friends, which is where this amusing little book begins to be less amusing. One can have too much of a good thing. The illustrations are a shark-up of old engravings, funny all the way.
