(Sutherland, Bonynge, Covent Garden; London OSA-1273). Forgive Sutherland her habit of swallowing words (sometimes you wish she’d choke on them) and you have a gay and surprisingly Gallic recording of a diverting opera. Sometimes it sounds more like Offenbach than Donizetti.
