Boston Symphony Chamber Players

(Joseph Silverstein, violin, Doriot Anthony Dwyer, flute, James Stagliano, horn, Claude Frank, piano, and others; RCA Victor LSC-6184). A chamber music ragbag, including Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Poulenc, VillaLobos, Alexei Haieff, and one or two others. But some of the playing is simply beautiful — the Mozart G Minor Piano Quartet and Brahms’s Horn Trio in E-flat, to name two. The only false notes are struck by Peter Ustinov in an aimless and useless spoken introduction. At least they don’t charge extra for it.
