Slow Starter

At 8:00 A.M. I rise and shine,
Sleep-sodden, limp, and groggy.
I have my eyelids up by 9:00,
But am I ever groggy!

By noon I answer to my name,
Despite persistent yawning.
By 3:00, it’s fairly safe to claim
Full consciousness is dawning.

At dinner, though I’m still in low,
My motor’s really running.
By 10:00 P.M., I coin a mot,
Or Wilde-ly take to punning.

And by 11:00, be it said,
I’m fresher than a daisy.
And wide awake and tucked in bed,
I scintillate like crazy!
