Fame

THE name of him who authored what,
I used to know but have forgot;
And puzzled hours I devote
To thinking what it was he wrote.
If cogitation could reclaim
His highly celebrated name,
The title of his famous book
Would find a hook in memory’s nook.
Must both this author and his work
In Stygian murk be doomed to lurk?
I deem it basest of affronts
That both of them desert at once.
