STUDENT ESSAY CONTEST
To the students writing the four best essays, as determined by the judges, the Atlantic Monthly will award the following prizes:—
To College Students
First Prize . . . . . $50

To High-School Students

Conditions
1. The Contest is open to all students in classes regularly enrolled on the Atlantic School List as using the Atlantic as a text during the academic year 1924–1925.*
2. Essays submitted must not exceed 2000 words in length and must be personal or familiar essays similar in type to those appearing in the Atlantic Contributors’ Club.
3. No limit is set to the number of essays which each student may submit, but the contestant is advised to concentrate upon one.
4. The names of the student and school must not appear on the essay, but shall be noted in full with the instructor’s endorsement and attached to the manuscript. Instructors’ endorsements will be detached and the essays numbered at the Atlantic office before they are presented to the judges.
5. Essays must reach the office of the Atlantic Monthly by April 11, 1925.
6. The award of the prizes will be announced in the June issue of the Atlantic Monthly.
7. Manuscripts submitted in the Contest will not be returned, and ownership of the selected essays rests with the Atlantic Monthly Company.

CONTEST FOR INSTRUCTORS
“The Atlantic Monthly as a Textbook”
a Prize of $50
1. The instructor must be regularly enrolled on the Atlantic School List of 1924–1925 as using the Atlantic in classes.
2. Essays must reach the office of the Atlantic Monthly by April 11, 1925.
3. The award of the prizes will be announced in the June issue of the Atlantic Monthly.
4. Manuscripts submitted in the Contest will not be returned, and ownership of the selected prize essay rests with the Atlantic Monthly Company.
The Contest for Instructors is a result of the Atlantic’s recognition of the latent possibilities of the Atlantic Monthly as a Textbook, as they have been revealed by gratifying and rather remarkable letters from Instructors of Journalism and History, as well as of English and Literature.
