A man has died after 35 people, including children, were found in a shipping container at Tilbury Docks in Essex, England.
Police said they are treating the death as a homicide. "It is a homicide investigation from the police point of view at this time, said Police Superintendent Trevor Roe.
Survivors, who are presumed to be from the Indian subcontinent, were taken to local hospitals for severe dehydration and hypothermia after spending at least one night in the containers, according to authorities.
"This is a humanitarian issue and the welfare of these patients is a priority," said Roe. He said attention was drawn to the container because people were "banging and screaming" inside.
