I am disappointed but not shocked by the revelation that Mike Daisey was making things up with his Apple chronicles. I have been to many of the same places he was talking about, and from the first time I heard his narrative it did not sound right to me.
I unfortunately am at a computer only for the next 5 minutes, and then away for the next 12 hours; so I will give details later. In the meantime, here is Adam Minter's earlier article about Daisey; Max Fisher's Atlantic explanation of why this matters; and the Marketplace expose on what he invented. Fuller explanation in 12 hours or so, including how this fits in the larger worker-safety / Chinese-production picture. This is just a "for the record" note, before signing off.
