NATO announced that the the Taliban insurgents responsible for shooting down a U.S. Chinook helicopter filled with Navy SEALs have been killed in a strike. "At approximately midnight on 8th August, coalition forces killed the Taliban insurgents responsible for this attack," said Gen. John Allen in a Pentagon briefing from Kabul relayed by The New York Post. "We dealt with them in a kinetic strike," Allen said, pointing out that they knew where the insurgents had fled after their attack, BBC News reported. The sophisticated insurgent attack on the Chinook Helicopter killed 22 members of Navy SEAL Team 6, the unit that killed bin Laden in May.
