Baby makes three for Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling, as the gorgeous supercouple welcomes a girl to their family.

Us Weekly is reporting that Mendes and Gosling's child was born last Friday, September 12. The couple met in 2011, on set of director Derek Cianfrance's film The Place Beyond the Pines. Mendes also appears in Gosling's directorial debut, Lost River, which debuted at Cannes to unfortunate reception. Hopefully their new collaboration – their baby – will be received a bit better!

Funny enough, also in 2011, Gosling told UK paper The Times that a child would be the end of his movie career.

I'd like to be making babies but I'm not, so I'm making movies. When someone comes along, I don't think I'll be able to do both and I'm fine with that. I'll make movies until I make babies."

As if his previous threats to retire weren't enough, this baby may be the death knell for his career. Or, you know, he could go back to acting in the next couple of years, because statements given in interviews are not binding.

Mendes has said nothing about retiring once she became a mother. Mendes isn't gonna mess with you like that.
