Halle Berry is promo-ing her latest project—the CBS series Extant, premiering Wednesday—by talking about believing in extraterrestrial life. On The Late Show last night, Letterman asked her what she thinks about the premise of the series, which involves artificial intelligence and Berry's character impregnated in space. "I don't believe that we are the only species in existence," she said. "Really?" Letterman inquired. "I don't think so," she said. After he inquired whether she thinks there are "other things" in the universe. She said: "My ego doesn't tell me that we are the only ones who have survived. I think it might take us 20 years to get to those other life forms but I think they are out there." Go here to watch the full interview.
This isn't the first time Berry has trotted out her hunches about aliens on the press tour for the show. At a premiere screening she told the Los Angeles Times: "“I’m not so egotistical to think that we’re the only ones living in this vast, vast universe. I do think there’s other life out there."
Even if Berry is just sharing her long-held X-Files-y believes, it's a good strategy for promoting her show. No one can resist a "celebrity believes in aliens story" (not even us). Now we just hope that Berry gets a chance to chat with other noted alien truther, Ariana Grande.
