If the trailer for Olivier Assayas' Clouds of Sils Maria is any indication of Kristen Stewart's post-Twilight career, color us excited. Stewart seems to be having more fun here than she did in any of her blockbusters.
Stewart, typically be-hoodied, plays the personal assistant to Juliette Binoche's Maria, an aging actress. Maria comes into conflict with a young starlet (Chloe Moretz), who has taken on a role that Maria herself played in her youth. Moretz appears to be relishing role of the ingenue, who seems like Eve Harrington with the bitchiness turned up to 11.
As Julie Miller at Vanity Fair pointed out, also Stewart made a bold statement at Sundance playing a Guantanamo Bay guard in Camp X-Ray. Clouds of Sils Maria is in competition at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival.
