When you're a young Jimmy Fallon, who do you turn to for lessons in the ways of love? SNL god Lorne Michaels, according to a new profile in Vanity Fair. Fallon—along with two random models, one of the most unfavorable photo shoot tropes—appears on the February Vanity Fair cover in advance of his Tonight Show takeover. In the accompanying article he discusses with David Kamp how, when a cast member on SNL, he developed a father-son bond with Michaels, who advised him on matters like what cars to buy. Michaels counsel also extended to the subject of love. He was a Ladies Man, of sorts. Fallon explains:
Or ‘Should I date this actress?’ [“Lorne” voice] ‘You can date her, but you probably shouldn’t marry her.’ And he’d be totally right.
We'd love to hear more about Lorne's feelings on what exactly the marrying type is, but for now we'll settle with speculating as to who "this actress" is. Is it perhaps Winona Ryder, to whom Fallon (now married to proucer Nancy Juvonen) has been romantically linked? (Ryder denied that they dated in a 2002 W interview.) Pure speculation, you know.
