In a very crowded field, the Directors Guild of America honored the likes of Alfonso Cuarón and Martin Scorsese this year with nominations, but left some high profile names in the sidelines.
The nominated directors are:
- Alfonso Cuarón, Gravity
- Steve McQueen, 12 Years a Slave
- Paul Greengrass, Captain Phillips
- Martin Scorsese, The Wolf of Wall Street
- David O. Russell, American Hustle
That leaves out the likes of the Coen brothers for Inside Llewyn Davis—a movie which, despite winning big at the National Society of Film Critics has been left out of all the guild races so far—Spike Jonze for Her, and Alexander Payne for Nebraska. This is Scorsese's eleventh nomination.
