The concept for the 21 Jump Street sequel, 22 Jump Street, as evidenced by this trailer is simple: it's 21 Jump Street but in college. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are back in the game posing as "old as shit"-looking college students while looking for a drug dealer.
But really, if you want to know how the pitch meeting for 22 Jump Street went, look no further than the opening of the trailer. "Ladies, nobody gave a shit about the Jump Street reboot, but you got lucky," Nick Offerman's Deputy Chief Hardy says. Remember, the original surprised everyone by both doing well at the box office and, most surprisingly, being very good. "So now," says Hardy/the meta-commentary, "this department has invested a lot of money to make sure Jump Street keeps going." Also, the operation has relocated from 21 Jump Street to 22 Jump Street. Just across the street. So there you go.
