Two of the Internet's favorite shows will come together in one episode of television come 2014: Vince Gilligan—revered creator of Breaking Bad—will appear on Internet favorite Community in its upcoming season. Imagine the GIFs. Entertainment Weekly's Dan Snierson reports that Gilligan will make his acting debut as "a smooth-talking gold digger" in an episode filming this week to air in late winter or early spring.

Community has always been meta when it comes to addressing TV fandom, while the show built its own rabid base, one of its main characters, Abed, was an avid fan himself. But the show—now back under the control of its volatile creator Dan Harmon—is larding on the in-joke cameos. In addition to Gilligan's turn, the fifth season will also feature an appearance from Mitch Hurwitz, the creator of Arrested Development, another Internet favorite.

While, yes, it may be interesting to see Gilligan try his hand at acting—his Southern drawl is pretty smooth—it also comes off as some high profile back patting on the part of insiders. Of course, it's not like this hasn't been done before. Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon did appear on Veronica Mars. He was a big fan of that other awesome blonde teen.
