Yikes! Reality star turned Kanye West muse Kim Kardashian has put a fellow celebrity on full blast, using her Instagram account to relay a very heated message to the source of her rage. That person? Katie Couric, of all people. This afternoon, Kardashian posted a photo of a card (or, half of a card it looks like?) that came with a gift from Couric, wishing Kim and Kanye congratulations on the birth of their daughter North West. Kim then wrote her own message, in hashtag form of course, saying "#IHateFakeMediaFriends" and "#MayIHumblySuggestYouNotSendGiftsThenTalkShit." Uh oh! What did Katie say??
Well, it would seem that Kardashian is responding to a Couric quote from InTouch, in which Couric says of Kim and her sisters, "I don’t understand — why are they so famous? I think it’s mostly teenage girls that are interested." That quote then made it to places like Perez Hilton and Radar yesterday ("Couric SLAMS the Kardashians" reads Radar's headline) and, it would seem, eventually to Kim Kardashian herself. So fired up the iPhone and responded in the best, most mature way possible.
Look, I can understand why Kardashian would be a little offended by what Couric said, but at the same time I think she could maybe give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that Couric kinda meant "I don't get it, but whatever," like an older person might say about a type of music or fashion or whatever? And she could also maybe have considered the possibility that the gift and card were more for Kanye West, a mostly respected if often publicly silly musician? I don't know, that's probably reaching just to blame Kim Kardashian for bad behavior instead of Katie Couric, but this seems like the wrong way to react to a silly quote from InTouch magazine. Doesn't it?
