The Weinstein Company has announced that it is moving the release date of Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master, the omigod-we-can't-wait movie that's kinda sorta about Scientology, ahead a few weeks. According to Variety's Jeff Sneider, the film will now open (in limited release) on September 14 instead of October 12, as originally planned. That's less than two months away! The movie will then expand its release on September 21st. So that is an early autumn treat! The only bad thing about this news is that it means Killing Them Softly, the Brad Pitt gangster film that got a warm reception at Cannes this year, will be opening a few weeks later than planned. But that's a small price to pay for getting to satisfy our intense Master curiosity a little earlier than we thought we would.
