Tuesday was suppose to be a "last stand" for Gingrich, who's pinned his nomination hope on Mississippi and Alabama, so Jon Stewart is surprised to see Newt chalking up his second-place finishes in the states as a victory.
"The fact is that in both states the conservative candidates got nearly 70 percent of the vote," Gingrich said Tuesday, wrapping up his vote totals with Rick Santorum. Stewart makes the obvious point that that simply isn't how elections work. He follows that up by dinging Fox News for not covering a primary race in which its implicit political party is tearing itself apart and criticizing CNN for being late with results after insisting it'd be first with them.
