Stephen Colbert and his legal team filed paperwork (around 150 pages) with the Federal Election Commission at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, and apparently his super PAC, Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow Inc., has raised $1,023,121.24. ''Yeah! How you like me now, F.E.C? I'm rolling seven digits deep! I got 99 problems but a non-connected independent-expenditure only committee ain't one!," reads a quote from Colbert on a memo accompanying the superPAC filing. "I would like it noted for the record that I advised Mr. Colbert against including that quote," wrote his super PAC's treasurer Shauna Polk.
As The New York Times reports, Gavin Newsom, the lieutenant governor of California, along with actors Bradley Whitford (The West Wing) and Laura Sangiacomo (Just Shoot Me ) were listed as donors along with some (presumably) raunchy pseudonyms. Colbert explained the filing (and his inappropriately-named donors) Monday night (video below):
