Steel yourselves for a rash of terrible Twitter jokes and commentary in the wake of Demi Moore's much expected but just announced divorce from Ashton Kutcher. The two celebrities have been rumored to be on the rocks for a while now with several reports that Kutcher was unfaithful. Moore's statement to the press vaguely hinted at that, declaring, "As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life."
That sounds rough, but Twitter is full of delight at the opportunity to make terrible jokes. A hashtag for the purposes, #baddemiashtonjokes, has already begun serving the purpose of uniting these horrible quips ("Dude Where's My Marriage?" seems to be the current favorite) under one horrible umbrella. If you're playing along, Reuters social media editor Anthony De Rosa scored as the first (at least in our Twitter feed) to make this joke: "Demi Moore unfollowing @aplusk" he said, referring to Kutcher's Twitter handle and linking to a story announcing the divorce. Congrats Anthony. We look forward (sort of ... ) to the rest of your jokes in the coming minutes.
Kutcher for his part, took to his Twitter, with more than 8 million followers, with a more serious note, writing, "I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK."
