We realize there's only so much time one can spend in a day watching new trailers, viral video clips, and shaky cell phone footage of people arguing on live television. This is why every afternoon The Atlantic Wire highlights the day's video clips that truly earn your five minutes (or less) of attention. Today:
There's a long tradition of American movie stars appearing in ads in foreign markets that make them look silly, but so far only George Clooney has appeared in an ad for a Norwegian bank that suggest he and a lady got married and engaged in romantic hijinks involving horse masks. It's unnerving enough to make you wonder if Nestle might be shopping for a new pitchman for Nespresso coffee [Copy Ranter]
According to Forbes, there are 101 billionaires from Russia, but only Alexander Lebedev punched someone on live television over the weekend during a debate about the financial crisis. Incidentally, the man the media mogul punched was Sergei Polonsky, a real-estate developer who used to be a billionaire before losing $900 million of his estimated $1.2 billion fortune between 2008 and 2009. The Associated Press explains that "punch-ups and heated exchanges between guests are common on Russian political discussion shows," so it's not just an oligarch thing. According to The Guardian, Lebedev defended throwing the punch in a post on his blog, on the grounds Polonsky was behaving "like a street hooligan." [NTV via the New York Daily News]
If you're excited for Community's third season to premiere Thursday night on NBC, consider this: would you been even more excited if the show had been retooled to resemble an early-1990s erotic thriller over the summer hiatus? It hasn't been, but you wouldn't know based on the new recut trailer. The only that's missing is Richard Gere as a psychiatrist/lawyer/industrialist who doesn't know who to trust. [NBC via Jezebel]
