Track of the Day: 'Eyes Be Closed'

Washed Out is Georgia native Ernest Greene, and if the chillwave phenomenon has a patron saint, he just might be the one. Greene's "Feel it All Around" broke big with the blog set last year, and now he's back with a proper debut album, produced by Ben Allen of Merriweather Post Pavilion fame. This track is a perfect distillation of the sonics and the woozy spirit of chillwave, if the genre is new to you. Because the low end is an important aspect of Greene's palate, you'll get a better sense of what he's up to on good speakers or in the car.
